  • Deadline passed 3 days ago; late movers still search.
  • The change is forced: it reaches users even if they wait.
  • Export is hard. A free importer wins this wave.

    Helpful first
Sorry you have to deal with this. Microsoft Publisher closes on October 13, 2026. Save what you can first:

    1. Find your .pub files. Search your PC and cloud drives for files that end in .pub.
    2. Save each file as PDF. In Publisher, open the file and choose File > Save as > PDF. For many files, test Microsoft's Convert-PubFileToPDF.ps1 script first.
    3. Rebuild what you still edit. Open the PDF in Word to edit the text, or remake the layout in Word or PowerPoint.

Switch from Microsoft Publisher to Your product

Microsoft Publisher closes on October 13. Here is how to save what you can and move to Your product.

    What closes at Microsoft Office

Microsoft removed Publisher from Microsoft 365 from October 1, 2026. Support for the one-time purchase version ends October 13, 2026. Save your .pub files as PDF while you can still open them.

    • Support for one-time purchase Publisher ends: October 13, 2026 (Microsoft)
    • Removed: From Microsoft 365, on or shortly after October 1, 2026 (Microsoft)
    • Subscribers: Microsoft 365 subscribers can no longer open or edit Publisher files in Publisher (Microsoft)
    • People who bought Publisher once: Can still install and use it, but support ends October 13, 2026 (Microsoft)
    • How to save a file: Open it, then File > Save as and pick PDF (Microsoft)
    • Many files at once: Microsoft offers a sample PowerShell script, Convert-PubFileToPDF.ps1 (Microsoft)
    • Edit the text later: Open the PDF in Word; the layout may change (Microsoft)
    • Microsoft's suggested apps: Word and PowerPoint for flyers, cards, newsletters and posters (Microsoft)

This is a full shutdown, not a pause. When the service closes, files and lists you did not save may be gone.
