How we checked
- Each table comes from the vendor's own page. We copy the dates as the vendor prints them.
- Some dates are only a month or a part of a year. We show that text as it is. We never turn it into a day, and we do not count days to it.
- Ending soon means the next key date is in the next 90 days. We count days from today.
- What to do opens our page about that change, when we have one.
- If a vendor moves a date, we fix the table after we check the vendor page.
Amazon EKS Kubernetes version support schedule
What the dates mean, in short, from AWS's pages: Each version gets 14 months of standard support from its Amazon EKS release, then 12 months of extended support, which is on by default and billed from the start of the end-of-standard-support day (UTC+0) at $0.60 per cluster per hour instead of $0.10, i.e. standard plus $0.50 (s2). At the end of extended support you can no longer create clusters on that version and AWS auto-upgrades the control plane (only the control plane) without further notice; clusters with extended support disabled are auto-upgraded at end of standard support.
- Standard support price
- $0.10 per cluster per hour Source
- Extended support price
- $0.60 per cluster per hour (Standard Kubernetes version support + $0.50 per cluster per hour) Source
- Standard support length
- 14 months after the version is first available on Amazon EKS Source
- Extended support length
- 12 months after end of standard support (26 months in total); enabled by default via the EXTENDED upgrade policy Source
- Billing timezone
- Extended support billing starts at the beginning of the day the version reaches end of standard support, UTC+0; all table dates are UTC+0 Source
- End of extended support
- No new clusters on the version; existing control planes are automatically updated to the earliest supported version at any time after the date, with no notification; managed node groups and self-managed nodes stay on the previous version Source
- Currently in standard support
- 1.37, 1.36, 1.35, 1.34 Source
- Currently in extended support
- 1.33, 1.32, 1.31 Source

GKE version support schedule
What the dates mean, in short, from Google Cloud's pages: Clusters in the Rapid, Regular and Stable channels (and no channel) get features, security patches and bug fixes until end of standard support (formerly called end of life), after which GKE auto-upgrades them; only clusters in the Extended channel keep the minor version until end of extended support, and during that extended period they pay an extra $0.50 per cluster per hour on top of the $0.10 cluster management fee, $0.60 in total (s2). Dates are Google's best-effort predictions, the release date shown is when the version first became available in the Rapid channel (Regular, Stable and Extended get it later), and month or quarter values such as 2027-Q4 are approximations.
- Release date used
- Rapid channel 'Available' date, which the page describes as the approximate date the version first reaches production (about one week to reach all regions); the 'Minor version (release date)' column prints no date of its own Source
- Auto-upgrade at end of support
- If a cluster runs a patch version of a minor version that has reached its end of support date, GKE auto-upgrades the cluster Source
- Extended support availability
- Only clusters enrolled in the Extended channel keep a minor version and its patches until end of extended support; other channels lose it at end of standard support Source
- Extended period fee
- $0.50 per cluster per hour, in addition to the $0.10 per cluster per hour cluster management fee, for a total of $0.60 per cluster per hour; no extra charge for the Extended channel during standard support Source
- Extended support length
- Up to 24 months on a GKE minor release Source
- Versions already out of support
- GKE version 1.29 and earlier have reached end of support Source
- No channel (formerly Static) removal
- Deprecated; will be removed on June 14, 2027, after which GKE enrolls remaining clusters in the Stable channel. No-channel clusters follow the Stable channel auto-upgrade date and the non-Extended end of standard support date Source
- Date certainty
- Best-effort predictions updated periodically; month-only or quarter dates are approximations; italicized day-level dates are also approximations. Page last updated 2026-10-15 UTC Source

AKS Kubernetes version support schedule
What the dates mean, in short, from Microsoft's pages: AKS supports a GA minor version for 12 months; after its end-of-life date you get a 60-day platform support grace period, and from June 1, 2027 AKS automatically upgrades clusters still on an unsupported version once that grace period ends. Long-term support adds another year but is never automatic: it must be enabled explicitly and requires moving the cluster to the Premium tier (s2), whose rates Microsoft does not print on these pages.
- Month-only end-of-life dates
- Unless an explicit date is provided, the End of Life (EOL) date is the last day of the specified month, e.g. 'Mar 2026' means March 31, 2026 Source
- Supported window
- Three GA minor versions (N, N-1, N-2); N-3 gets reduced platform support only Source
- Grace period and forced upgrade
- 60-day platform support grace period after the published end-of-life date; starting June 1, 2027, AKS automatically upgrades clusters still on an unsupported version when it ends, ignoring maintenance windows and deprecated-API checks Source
- Planned platform-initiated upgrade month (community support)
- 1.32-1.35: Jun 2027; 1.36: Sep 2027; 1.37: Jan 2028; 1.38: TBD (planning estimates) Source
- Planned platform-initiated upgrade month (LTS)
- 1.29-1.32: Jun 2027; 1.33: Oct 2027; 1.34: Feb 2028; 1.35: Jun 2028; 1.36: Sep 2028; 1.37: Jan 2029; 1.38: TBD (planning estimates) Source
- LTS requirements
- Enabling LTS requires moving the cluster to the Premium tier and explicitly selecting the LTS support plan; LTS supports only the two most recent patch versions Source
- LTS-only rows
- 1.29, 1.30 and 1.31 appear only in the LTS versions table; 1.32-1.38 appear in both tables with matching GA and end-of-life values Source
- Azure Linux 2.0 node images
- No longer supported since November 30, 2025; node images will be removed beginning October 31, 2026, after which node pools can't scale Source
