1. Decide: Cloud or another self-hosted tool. If you must stay self-hosted, plan your exit now. Moving to Cloud is the Atlassian path.
2. Plan around March 30, 2028. After that day you cannot buy more Data Center users or apps.
3. Back up everything before March 28, 2029. Make full backups of your data and attachments while you can still change things.

    • New customers: Could not buy after March 30, 2026 (Atlassian)
    • Products: Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence and Crowd Data Center, plus their apps (Atlassian)
    • Not affected: Bitbucket and Bamboo Data Center continue; Jira Align is not included (Atlassian)
    • Read-only means: You can see your data, but cannot add data or do new actions (Atlassian)
    • Renewals: Cannot go past March 28, 2029; they are prorated to that date (Atlassian)
    • Cloud move discount: 10-20% off the first year of Cloud Enterprise if bought by June 2027 (Atlassian)
